My Top 5 Drugstore Makeup Products of 2017 (Part 1)

Tried and Tested!

Hey everyone,

Once again we face the reality that another year has come to an end and as always it's gone way too fast, I honestly thought I had more time! haha, I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas with loved ones, no matter what you did or who you spent your day with, I hope it was filled with love, laughter and plenty of food, of course!

Now to start off the year, even though I'm a little late here! haha, I wanted to share my top favourite Drugstore makeup products that I discovered in 2017. By this I mean, makeup products that can usually be found in pharmacies, which are predominantly known as Drugstore products in the makeup industry.

It can be a little confusing since we call Drugstores pharmacies or chemists here Australia, but whatever the terminology, products that I am referring to are usually a lot more affordable than those you would find in high end stores like Sephora.

The list consists of 5 products that I have picked out from the several that I have tried and believe me it wasn't easy, but I wanted to keep it simple whilst also covering a variety of different types of makeup products.

First I'll start off with Setting Spray, a true makeup saver!

1. NYX Matte Spray

I've tried SO many setting sprays and my current go to is the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray. I have combination skin with the tendency to get oily during the day, especially when wearing makeup. When I finally purchased the NYX Matte Finish Spray, it sure did lived up to the hype! My makeup lasted and I was matte right up until the end of the day, with minimal touch ups required, I'm usually the girl you see who has her powder compact out in public touching up the shine ha ha, so this was a big deal for me.

In conclusion, if you’re after a setting spray that helps with shine and makeup lasting on a budget then I would highly recommend this one!

This setting spray retails for $14.95 and can be purchased at: and

2. NYX Tinted Brow Mascara:

Sometimes we just don't have the time to do the full on "Insta brow" look, well I know I don't anyways! ha ha, so I found lightly filling in my brows with a touch of brow mascara on top can really make them appear groomed and filled in but also natural when I want a look on the go.

Brow mascaras aren't really meant to fill in the gaps and shape the brows but instead are mainly for adding instant, temporary colour to the hairs whilst also keeping them groomed and in place. It can be worn on its own or on top of any brow product for that extra grooming and tint to the hairs.

If your natural brows have areas with sparseness, brow mascaras won't necessarily help fill in those areas, so I suggest adding another brow product underneath, even lightly just to fill in the areas that need it.

I personally love this brow mascara and have worn it by itself when my brows have been full enough and on top of brow products, it always manages to keep my brows intact! I didn't want to spend a lot on brow mascara since I mainly use pomades or powders, so I was really happy to find one that works at an affordable price.

This brow mascara retails for $12.95 and can be purchased at and also in Priceline and Priceline Pharmacy stores.

3. Australis KPOP All-In-One Mascara

I have tried so many Drugstore brand mascaras and it's not always a product I want to spend more than $20 on, but sometimes I have found myself buying high end mascaras again because I just couldn't find a cruelty free one that gave me the same or similar effect as the high end ones did.

I wanted to share the Australis KPOP All-In-One Mascara because I was so excited when this came out (and the rest of the range to be honest haha) I not only love Korean beauty but when one of my favourite brands brought out a cruelty free mascara inspired by Korean beauty, I knew I had to try it!

I tend to go for a mascara that focuses on lengthening the lashes and I found this one has that effect. I also like the fact that it is easy to use and doesn't make the lashes clumpy with a formula that isn't too wet, which I personally don't like in mascara as it can get a little messy!

The mascara has a really good brush, which isn't too big and I find that it's just the right size for separating the lashes whilst adding a bit of a curl as well. It's also easy to use on the lower lash line as the brush isn't too big making it easier to control.

So if you’re looking for a mascara on a budget that separates, curls and lengthens your lashes, the all-in-one then I highly recommend the Australis KPOP All-In-One Mascara.

This mascara retails for: $14.99 and you can get it from: and or in Priceline and Priceline Pharmacy stores.
